AN ACT ALLOWING THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION THE FLEXIBILITY TO DETERMINE THE PEDAGOGICAL APPROACHES TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN THE BASIC EDUCATION CURRICULUM, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE SECTION 5 OF REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10533, OR THE "ENHANCED BASIC EDUCATION ACT OF 2013"



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1.Section 5 of Republic Act No. 10533 or the "Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013," is hereby amended to read as follows:

 
"SEC. 5.Curriculum Development.- x x x.

"The DepEd shall adhere to the following standards and principles in developing the enhanced basic education curriculum:

 
 

"(a) x x x;

 
  "(b) x x x;

 
  "(c) x x x;

 
  "(d) x x x;

 
  "(e) x x x;

 
  "(f) x x x;

 
 

"(g) The curriculum shall employ the approach deemed most effective by the DepEd to ensure mastery of knowledge and skills after each level:Provided,That the curriculum and approach shall be subject to review at least once every five (5) years to determine their relevance and effectiveness in achieving the educational goals, following a systematic curriculum development process determined by the DepEd; and

 
 

"(h) 

SEC. 2.All laws, orders, issuances, rules and regulations or parts thereof inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed or amended accordingly.

SEC. 3.This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days following its publication in theOfficial Gazetteor in a newspaper of general circulation.

This Act, which is a consolidation of House Bill No. 5939 and Senate Bill No. 1899, was passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Philippines on May 6, 2026 and May 5, 2026, respectively.
